Our structure
Led by Chief Executive Mark Samuels, Medicines UK is a dedicated team with specialist experience in medicines manufacturing and regulation; supply chain and marketing; NHS environment; policy-making and political engagement; and media communications and content creation.
Our working groups
Medicines UK operates through a series of expert working groups that cover regulatory affairs, economic and commercial issues, secondary care, sustainability, NHS partnership, and legal issues, with a specialist sector group on biosimilars.
In addition, we run a women's network, a Quality Forum and an annual conference. The working group chairs and vice chairs are elected by the members of each group and report to a members' board.
Each member has the same access and voting rights as all the others, which drives transparency in our work and means we can represent the whole sector regardless of company size or structure.
Member input
Via our working groups, members help inform and develop policy that allows Medicines UK to represent the industry's view to the government and the NHS around the commercial environment in which they operate.
Members' input helps to set out an industry perspective and allows us to effectively and authoritatively represent sector views with ministers, civil servants, NHS officials and regulators, who are among the important decision-makers around the licensing, purchasing and supply of medicines.
