Medicines UK is the leading voice for manufacturers and suppliers of generic and biosimilar medicines in the UK. Representing an industry that delivers four out of five NHS prescriptions, Medicines UK champions innovation, access and affordability in healthcare. We have 45 member companies representing the full spectrum of suppliers to the UK market. Our goal is to improve the business and operational environment of our members and sustain an attractive and competitive UK medicines market.
Member activities
By joining Medicines UK you will be actively and directly involved in:
- Projecting and amplifying a strong, unified voice that influences decisions impacting the off-patent medicines sector.
- Developing policies that allow Medicines UK to represent the industry's view to the government and the NHS around the commercial environment in which members operate.
- Setting out an industry perspective to engage with ministers, civil servants, NHS officials and regulators, who are important decision-makers around the licensing, purchasing and supply of medicines.
- Shaping policy that allows us to represent the industry's view to the administrations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- Influencing positions and asks that allow us to represent the industry's view on your regulatory environment and interaction with the MHRA.
- Representing the industry on government working groups.

Medicines UK membership
Medicines UK's membership represents 45 companies, ranging from large companies with international footprints through to more domestically focused organisations and those which specialise in certain parts of the market.
Companies wishing to join Medicines UK need to fulfil two requirements: they must have at least one valid UK marketing authorisation for off-patent products, and they must have a UK address.
Membership fees are tiered and depend on annual UK turnover. All members have the same voting and access rights regardless of their size or membership fee. This means we engage with a diverse set of companies and represent all aspects of the supply market.

British Biosimilars Association membership
Membership of the British Biosimilars Association (BBA) is open to any company currently developing biosimilars or considering manufacturing a future pipeline.
The group meets six times a year and has been very successful in educating, engaging and collaborating with the key government individuals and departments tasked with enhancing the UK market. In addition, there is regular interaction with senior people from the MHRA and NICE. For more details, see the BBA section of this website.
